Top Ten Green Building / LEED Gold Certified
Named one of the Top Ten Green Buildings for 2002 by the US Department of Energy, the United States Green Building Council, and the American Institute of Architects Committee on the Environment. Building 850 has also been Certified as a LEED Gold Building. LEED stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design. Scott Ellinwood, FAIA headed a multi-disciplinary design team that strategized the design with the Navy from the goal-setting conceptual design through the entire design and construction process. Dr. Malcolm Lewis, PE and the Southern California Edison Company were integral to providing evaluations of design alternatives and state-of-the-art engineering services.
